What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life - Brail Watson

This song is a classic! Cool thing about this song, though, is its significance to Brail himself. He was requested to sing this to his professor and his wife and this later became the song Brail serenaded his now wife when they got engaged. This rendition really shows off the incredible versatility of Brail's voice when you compare it to his past work along with the fantastic talents of guitarist Pearce Odegard. Play this one time and try not to be swept away by these breezy performance. I'm sure you'll fail!

Favorite Live Performance
Frequency (Jam Session) - Jhene Aiko

This song is my absolute favorite from Jhene's newest album, Trip. I love the simplicity of the lyrics and the playfulness of its delivery. To hear it live where you know it will be even more loose and spontaneous is a pleasure. This song plays out like a musical mantra or prayer that is ear candy for people who love R&B vocals. This is honestly the perfect demonstration of the hypnotic and dreamy quality of Jhene's singing. Once again, press play and vibe out!

Favorite Music Video
Growing Pains - Alessia Cara

I've been waiting for Alessia Cara to get into an album again for a loooong time. It has been years since her debut LP, Know-it-all, and after a lot of big singles outside of that, she's due for another full length project. This song was the perfect comeback to show there's a whole lot of growth in her as a person that is ready to be explored in an album. This song itself really goes into the difficulty of adjusting to true adulthood, after graduating high school and becoming the person you strive to be in life. The video itself is very captivating and has me anticipating what more is to come from this young singer-songwriter.

Favorite Dance Video
Jet Song (West Side Story) - Galen Hooks

Galen once again has blown me away with her choreography and performance. West Side Story is one the highest regarded musicals with its choreo and story, therefore with Galen being able to handle that with seeming ease is astounding. She captures a lot of the grit of being a young gang member in New York and yet presents it with a bit of subtle intricacy. Enjoy this fun, bombastic video so you can understand why she's one of my favorite choreographers of all time!

Favorite Dance Video
Sportscenter - Kinjaz

I mean, it's Kinjaz! What more can I say? This is a cool set that they put together and I really dug it. Enjoy!!

Favorite Freestyle
Hour long freestyle on Tim Westwood - Juice WRLD

This month, Juice WRLD just popped up everywhere around and I had no clue why. I soon found that he was in a similar lane as XXXtentacion and Lil Uzi Vert. That was a little discouraging, so I averted my eyes. Later during the month, I would see him interviewed by Nardwuar and it finally made me see that he can't be that bad according to his personality. Yet, I hadn't made the plunge into his music. Suddenly, my recommended feed on YouTube shows me this video. I clicked in disbelief of its quality and was astonished. His ability to freestyle is wholly impressive and I now share that with you. It's not on any Lupe Fiasco levels, but it's clever the entire way through as he rarely repeats himself in an hour's time. Check out some of it if you have doubts!

Favorite Music Video
Figa of Speech Pt. 2 (Square Biz) - Stik Figa x Miles Bonny

If you've seen my review of the Stik Figa & Miles Bonny EP, you will know how much I enjoyed this song. This simple video that they put out to it had me hanging on every word and that should be reason enough to check this along with the rest of the project out now! Jewell Ave John is the truth!!!

Favorite Interview
Timothy Delaghetto interviews Russell

The self titled album by Russell has been on constant rotation ever since it came out, yet I awaited much of the behind the scenes content. This interview really delves into the album and Russell as a person that I feel no other past interviews have really done. It gives a lot more insight and context to a lot of the project along with the documentary on his YouTube channel. If you're as interested in the man behind the music, then I wholeheartedly suggest that you give this a view.
