BM5's November 2024 Favorites

Favorite Kpop Song
Psycho and Beautiful - CLASS:y

Well, this is one of my favorites, as there's so many good singles in November. This one in particular has been one I've had on repeat since release. It makes me happy, too, since this is the long awaited return of CLASS:y which had some of my favorite songs of past end-of-year wrap ups. The infectious beat and catchy chorus have me singing it or ringing in my ear for hours. Please give this smaller group a listen if you have the chance, because it definitely has my recommendation.

Favorite KR&B Song
I Got U - Summer Cake

This actually was a random discovery this month, as it popped up in my recommended feed and the algorithm was on point! This song here has a vibe the 00's Neptunes would be proud of, and the video truly shows Summer Cake and her friends having a great time. The homemade video aesthetic of the video is definitely fit for the trend of throwback vibes like "Devil is a Lie" & "Million Dollar Baby" of Tommy Richman fame. This track led me to uncover a plethora of fantastic tunes from this young lady. Maybe this will be a good introduction to her too.

Favorite Hip Hop Album
GNX - Kendrick Lamar

The album/mixtape wasn't expected, but my love of it sure was! This collection of tunes has Kendrick Lamar repping the West Coast even harder than he ever has sonically. He lends himself to much more catchy production on tracks like the above shared "Squabble Up" and "TV Off". Yet, he still is able to diversify with smoother tracks like "Luther" and "The Heart Part 6" & thoughtful with "Reincarnated" & "Man at the Garden". Truly this was another wonderful display of another approach Kenny can offer the public, while never sacrificing his own musical integrity. Though, it definitely sounds like the most fun he's had on tracks in a minute, especially after the more sobering Mr. Morale and the Big Stepper album. Did this solidify his G.O.A.T status for you?
